When is the best time to take your multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplement? Is "all-in-one" better that taking nutrients separately? Is it better absorbed at night or in the morning? With or without food? The questions are complex, but I'll try to simplify the answer. Take a multivitamin with a meal to help your body absorb it more readily. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble, so you need some form of fatty acids in your system to help the retention process - anything from salmon to low-fat milk will do the job. Calcium should be spaced out in doses of 500 mg or less, preferably with a meal. And, remember, vitamin C blocks the absorption of calcium, so fruits and veggies are out. The most important thing is to swallow your supplement whenever you remember to and take your pills regularly. Read Your Complete Vitamin Guide for more information about vitamins.
