Getting exposed to secondhand smoke for as little as 30 minutes may temporarily slow blood circulation in non-smokers, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. The research also showed that secondhand smoke doubles the risk of breast cancer among women and increases the risk for heart disease by about 30 percent. For the firsthand smokers, researchers form the University of Bristol in England note that each cigarette takes 11 minutes off your life.
