Your head and body ache, you have a fever – yep, that’s flu. But you’ve got training session on your schedule, and you can’t turn down you partner by not showing up. So, should you exercise despite being sick? You could, but it will only make you sicker. Don’t be afraid to take some time off to let your body heal. Pay attention to your symptoms when making a decision to exercise – if you have a runny nose, you’ve got cold and light exercise might even benefit you.

But symptoms like fever, sore throat, diarrhea, body aches – these are flu symptoms and exercising can matters much worse. Also, the virus could enter your heart muscle and if that happens – exercise could kill you.

Resume your program gradually when you start feeling better. Taking preventive measures to boost your immune system and getting a flu shot will help you avoid sickness throughout the year. But don’t forget that there is no substitute for sensible diet and regular exercise to keep you healthy and energized.
