ImageStudies have shown that dieters who eat breakfast lose more weight than those who don't. That's because breakfast helps regulate your appetite throughout the day, which can prevent you from eating too much late at night. Eating a good wake-up meal will also keep you more alert throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Food helps fuel the brain with increased blood flow and blood glucose, and after eight hours of sleep, you need that refueling!
Breakfast will also give you the energy you need for a morning or midday workout. (You're much more likely to make it to the gym if you're not desperately hungry.) Need more compelling reasons to eat breakfast? For one thing, it's a major source of the vitamins and minerals you need to stay healthy and active. The morning meal is also your best bet for meeting the recommended daily allowance of fiber, found in whole-grain cereals, waffles and breads.
